James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” a “Total Reboot”

When it was announced that James Gunn was being brought in to direct a new Suicide Squad film, it was speculated that the movie was going to be a sequel to the 2016 movie by David Ayer.

In a recent interview, Peter Safran, producer of last year’s Aquaman film stated “First of all, we don’t call it Suicide Squad 2 ‘cause it’s a total reboot, so it’s The Suicide Squad and I think people should be extremely excited about it. It’s everything you would hope from a James Gunn script and I think that says a lot and that promises a lot and I know that we will deliver a lot.”

Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer, received mediocre reviews from critics and fans alike

It is currently unclear as to what cast members from the original film will reprise their roles, if any. Rumors have been circulating that Idris Elba might be replacing Will Smith for the role of Deadshot however it’s important to note that nothing has been officially confirmed. As for the rest of the cast, everything is up in the air.

Last week, James Gunn was just rehired to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after being booted from the project last year over some offensive tweets.
