Google Unveils Stadia Gaming Service

Google has always been known for constantly developing new web-based content and today at the annual Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco was no different. The tech giant unveiled a new cloud game streaming platform titled Stadia.

Stadia allows users to instantly play a variety of games without the need of downloads or installs on your device. YouTube videos containing gameplay will have a “play now” button allowing members of the service to jump right into games.

In recent months, the company announced Project Stream, which allowed users to beta test the functionality by playing Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey through the Google Chrome browser. Personally, I was able to run the service phenomenally through campus WiFi networks with low latency and 1080p, 60 frames-per-second during my entire testing period.

While we didn’t get every detail about the new service, Google announced it will be available through Chrome browsers, Chromecast, and Pixel devices at some point later in 2019 for the U.S., Canada, U.K., & Europe.

When more details come out on the service, I will be sure to post updates.
