Weezer (Black Album) Review

The alternative rock band that originally grew traction in the 90’s with their self-titled Weezer (Blue Album) is back with a new album and, in my opinion, has rebounded after the disaster that was Pacific Daydream

Weezer is known for their easy going alternative rock that often crosses into mainstream pop with past hits such as Island in the Sun and Beverly Hills. This album seems to be no different. Many of the songs hint at a pop vibe such as Living in L.A..

Unlike previous Weezer albums, this one does contain a fair share of explicit language, from f-bombs dropped in Too Many Thoughts in My Head to the more risqué single Zombie Bastards.

All in all, the album is a solid experience that new and old Weezer fans should get enjoyment out of. Many of these songs I feel will be picked up by more mainstream pop stations after the success and spotlight placed on the band after the surprise drop of the all cover Weezer (Teal Album).

In my opinion, the album is a strong 4.5 / 5 and definitely deserves a listen if you’ve heard any of Weezer’s past songs.
